My name is Erik Champion, and I am the Director of International Touring Operations for Feld Entertainment. I was born and raised in Brookfield, a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I attended The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Design and Technology.
After University, I worked for several regional theaters in Pennsylvania, producing more than 40 professional sound designs. In 2013, I was nominated for Best Sound Design in Central Pennsylvania for my work on The 39 Steps. Later that year, I worked on my first National Tour produced by the Prather Entertainment Group presenting Fiddler on the Roof. After completing that tour, Feld Entertainment contacted me about an Audio Engineer position on Disney On Ice. With Disney on Ice, I toured North America, South America, Asia, and Australia perfecting my skills as an Arena Audio Engineer. In 2017, I accepted a promotion to be the Production Manager for Disney on Ice presents Frozen! I managed 17 traveling crew members and provided oversight and logistical coordination of all technical operations for the production.
The 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic shut down the entertainment industry, and millions of people lost their jobs. Feld Entertainment was the world's first major touring operation to reopen. I was very fortunate to be their first Production Manager rehired in September of 2020. Our challenges were unprecedented as we wrote the book on touring during a global pandemic. Immediately following the tour, I proudly accepted a promotion to Tour Manager.
As Tour Manager I reopened our first International Tour in Europe in 2021. Again, the challenges were unprecedented. Moving my 65 employees of from country to country with wildly varying Covid-19 restrictions, labor shortages, and shipping delays was some of the most challenging adventures of my career. In February of 2022 I graciously accepted another promotion to become the Technical Operations Manager for our Ice, Stage, and Floor shows world wide. Then again, in July of 2022 I was promoted to a Director position overseeing our International Touring Operations. I am eternally grateful for the opportunities Feld Entertainment and its employees have offered me over the years.
